Raffle Benefiting GEMS

Inspired by the season, we’re extending our international efforts to support women in need to benefit the young women (ages 12-21) served by GEMS in NYC - an organisation doing important work locally on issues related to the commercial sexual exploitation of young women

To commemorate Human Rights Day (December 10th) and as part of the Snowflake Festival we’ve organised a fundraising raffle with the generous support of sixteen local 5th Ave Park Slope businesses - the total proceeds of which will be donated to GEMS.

Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5 each from the 9th to 15th of December at Asha Veza (through the 16th), Bierkraft, Gorilla Coffee, Southpaw (only on the 12th) and Tabeel.

One lucky winner will win sixteen $50 gift certificates each donated by one of the participating Park Slope businesses: Alchemy Restaurant and Tavern, Amazing Brooklyn Race, Asha Veza, Aunt Suzie's Restaurant, Beacon's Closet (Park Slope location), Bierkraft, Canaille Bistro, Element Beauty Lounge (Park Slope location),Gorilla Coffee, Luscious Food, Miriam RestaurantOlia Designs (Gift Certificate for collection at Asha Veza), SIP, Southpaw, St. Kilda and Tabeel.

Please join us for the raffle drawing at Asha Veza on December 16th at 8 pm during a special event we’re hosting for the occasion.

December 16th: Olia Designs Trunk Show Benefit for GEMS

Please join us for a very special evening on December 16th from 6 to 9 pm at Asha Veza.

Together with our dear friend Olia Gitman-Toporovsky, we’ll be throwing a trunk show of Olia’s gorgeous jewellery collection .  10% of the proceeds from all purchases of the Olia Design collection during the event will be donated to  GEMS to support their important work serving girls and young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation.

There’ll be bubbly flowing and live music provided by the brilliant Rob Chaseman and Matt Brandau on saxophone and base respectively.

We'll be drawing the winning raffle ticket for our fundraiser for GEMS at 8:00 pm.  One lucky individual will receive $800 worth of gift certificates to the very generous 5th Avenue Park Slope businesses that have supported this initiative.

We look forward to seeing you on the 16th!

Shop Brooklyn/Snowflake Festival: Promotions and Discounts

We've been reflecting on the importance of communities that sustain one another -  specifically, the ever-expanding community of supporters of Asha Veza and the communities in India and Bosnia supported by you.  This year, as many local organisations and enterprises experience extended fallout from an economy that has not fully recovered,  we've been taken aback by how readily and generously local businesses supported our fundraising initiative to benefit GEMS.

In appreciation of the community comprising our fellow Park Slope small business owners and the clientele whose patronage sustains us, we've initiated a cross-promotion with some of  our friends and neighbours on 5th Avenue in Park Slope.

Customers presenting receipts from participating business dated the 9th or 16th December 2010 will receive 10% discounts off the meal, purchase or service provided by the second participating business later in the day.  Please note that discounts will be honoured for receipts dated 12/9 on 12/9 and for those dated 12/16 on 12/16.

Participating businesses include: Alchemy Restaurant and Tavern Asha Veza, BierkraftCanaille BistroElement Beauty Lounge (Park Slope location),Gorilla CoffeeLulu's Then & NowMiriam RestaurantSIP Tabeel and The V Spot

Thank you for your support of local businesses.
